- Please schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks prior to upcoming events (i.e. photo-shoot, wedding, etc).
- Avoid the use of Aspirin (unless prescribed by your provider), NSAIDS, Ginko Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1 week pre and post injection as they will increase your risk of bruising.
- Avoid dental procedures 2 weeks pre and post treatment if applicable.
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid excess bruising.
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated for at least 1 week prior to and post appointment.
- You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to your injection to reduce the risk of bruising.
- Do not apply products that are potentially irritating for 2 -3 days before and after treatment (examples- tretinoin/retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone).
- Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.
- Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are allergic to any of the ingredients. Please inform your provider if you have any questions about this prior to the treatment day of treatment.
- Arrive with a clean face. Please do not wear makeup.
- A local topical anesthetic medication (numbing agent) will be applied in office before your treatment.
- You may experience a mild amount of tenderness or stinging during and following injection.
- Redness and swelling are normal. Some bruising may also be visible. This may last for up to 7-14 days.

PLEASE AVOID
- Ice or use a cold compress (but avoid firm pressure) immediately after treatment and for 15 minutes up to 3 times the day of treatment to reduce swelling.
- Some pain, swelling, redness and bruising is normal post injection and should begin to resolve with each day (up to 14 days). If you have increased or worsening pain, swelling, redness, bruising or any other reaction or side effect occurs please don’t hesitate to contact your provider.
- You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness/discomfort. Claritin may aid in decreasing redness and swelling.
- You may apply or take Arnica tablets to help decrease the amount of bruising.
- Use gentle pressure when washing your face 24-48 hours post treatment to avoid irritation, sores, scarring or movement of the product.
PLEASE AVOID
- LIP INJECTIONS: please avoid drinking from a straw, kissing or oral sex for 24-48 hours post injection.
- Please avoid touching the treated areas for 6 hours post treatment. Do not massage the injection site(s) 24-48 hours post treatment.
- Avoid extended UV exposure (sunbathing) and cold outdoor activities until any redness/swelling has subsided. You should always be applying an SPF!
- Avoid sleeping on the area for 24-48 hours. Try to prop yourself with pillows to prevent yourself from sleeping on your face!
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and hot tubs for 12-24 hours post treatment to reduce bruising.
- Avoid laser, IPL, skin tightening, microneedling or other cosmetic treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks. In addition, avoid dental procedures for at least 2 weeks if possible.
- You may continue your topical products as mentioned above 1 week after injection.
Post Treatment Care Instructions
Dermal Fillers
- You may see some bruising occur 1-2 days post treatment at any of the injection sites. This should resolve in several days (up to 14). To alleviate mild tenderness/discomfort please try Acetaminophen/Tylenol (anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen if Acetaminophen does not help with alleviation of symptoms can be taken 4-6 hours post Acetaminophen). If pain, bruising, swelling or redness is becoming worse, please reach out and contact your provider.
- To alleviate swelling you may try an antihistamine such as Claritin or Benadryl.
- If you suffer from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle puncture could contribute to recurrence. Please speak to/contact your provider in this case.
- The results of your treatment can take up to 14 days to take full effect & for swelling to reside. Please wait until the full 14 days have passed before assessing the results of your treatment.
- Bruising may occur and should resolve within 2-14 days.
- If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to reach out to your provider or the clinic at any time via phone, text or video chat.
- A 2-week post treatment follow up via in-person or photo-virtual follow up is recommended.
Please Contact Immediately for the following:
- Have fever and/or chills.
- Have discolored blotches in areas not injected.
- Have blanching (skin becomes white or pale in appearance) of the injected area(s).
- Notice the area appears red and/or hot to the touch.
- Have severe or increasing pain.
