• Please schedule your treatment at least 1-2 weeks prior to upcoming events (i.e. photoshoot, wedding, etc).
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure at least 24-48 hours prior to your treatment. 
  • Discontinue use of topical retinoids, hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment. 
  • Avoid exfoliating or waxing 3 days prior to treatment. 
  • Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil 3 days prior to treatment. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation. 
  • Avoid active breakouts of lesions. If you currently have active acne, you are not a good candidate for treatment.
  • No shaving the day of your treatment. 
  • Moles, warts or actinic (solar) Keratosis cannot be treated. 
  • Antiviral agent for 2 days prior to the day of treatment if you have a history of cold sores. 
  • Must not have had any ablative laser treatment within the past 2 weeks prior to the date of your treatment. 
  • Must not have taken Accutane in the past 6 months. 
  • Please come to your treatment with a clean face if possible. 
  • It is recommend preconditioning 4-6 weeks prior for optimal results: 
A pre-conditioning regimen (preferably given to you by your provider) includes: 
  • The use of alpha or beta hydroxy acids as sloughing agents. 
  • Retinoids to normalize keratinocyte turnover and promote collagenesis. 
  • Tyrosinase inhibitor to prevent hyperpigmentation. 
Patients are also always recommended to use a broad-spectrum physical sunblock daily! 
  • A topical local numbing agent will be applied prior to your treatment. 

Pre Treatment Care Instructions 

Microneedling

PLEASE DO:  
  • Use a cold compress after treatment if excessive discomfort, burning, redness or swelling occur. 
  • You may clean your face with a gentle cleanser 8 hours post treatment. Your provider will give you a detailed skincare routine. Treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and clean towel to pat dry. No massaging or harsh scrubbing (i.e. clarisonic).  
  • Eat fresh pineapple to optimize healing! 
  • Use only use clean linens and towels during the healing process.
  • During the healing phase, be sure to disinfect your cell phone or landline phone with alcohol wipes before use. Try to avoid your treated skin’s contact with the phone by choosing a hands-free option.

PLEASE AVOID
  • These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.  
  • Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for 7-10 days post treatment. When exposed to the sun, always use an SPF30 or above. You should be using an SPF every day! 
  • Please avoid any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil for up to 24 – 48 hours post treatment if possible. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.  
  • It is recommended to use Acetaminophen/Tylenol as needed for any discomfort. 
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 48-72 hours post treatment. 

Post Treatment Care Instructions 

Microneedling

  • Immediately post treatment: you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This typically diminishes within the same day or within 24 hours. 
  • Redness or sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few days) after post treatment. 
  • Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment. Do not pick or scratch at treated skin but instead keep moisturized (with pre-approved lotion or serums from your provider). 
  • It is recommended for best results to repeat the treatment every 4-6 weeks (With a series of 3 – 5 treatments in your first year). 
  • A 2-week post treatment follow up via in-person or photo-virtual follow up is recommended. 
  • If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to reach out to your provider or the clinic at any time via phone, text or video chat.  

Day 1 post procedure:
  • On the next day, you may clean your face with gentle cleanser. Stay away from exfoliants or glycolic acids that are present is cleaners as these can make your skin very dry after the procedure. Be sure to use an approved SPF30 or greater sunscreen! 
Days 2-7:
  • Within two (2) days following your medical microneedling procedure, you will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, you may apply your regular skin moisturizer. Follow the instructions given to you by your medical professional. 
Days 7+:
  • A week after the Medical Micro-Needling procedure, most patients notice that their skin is smoother and more radiant. Continue with SPF sun protection every day and reapply every 2-3 hours if outdoors!
