Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) aka Liquid Gold 
  • If you have had a recent illness, fever, cold, flu, rash, infection (of the treatment area), please reschedule your appointment. 
  • Please schedule your treatment at least 1-2 weeks prior to upcoming events (i.e. photoshoot, wedding, etc). You may encounter bruising, redness and/or swelling to the treatment area, plan accordingly. 
  • If you have a history of HSV-1 (cold sores), it is recommended to be treated prophylactically with an anti-viral.  
  • Discontinue the use of anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidal and non-steroidal) such as: Aspirin (if prescribed by a provider please get medical clearance), Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc. 3-7 days prior to your treatment. We want inflammation to occur – as this is one mechanism by which PRP works! 
  • If you are taking or have been taking systemic corticosteroids within the past 2 weeks, you will need to consult your prescribing provider for approval to discontinue use to receive treatment. 
  • Discontinue blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginko, Garlic, Flax, Cod Liver Oil, and Essential Fatty Acids, and multivitamins, a minimum of 7 days (preferably 14 days) prior to treatment. It is fine to continue iron and vitamin D. 
  • It is recommended that you avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements and cigarettes 3 days prior to your treatment to decrease risk of bruising. 
  • Acetaminophen/Tylenol may be used prior to treatment as needed. 
  • Please come to your appointment very well hydrated for increased ease of the blood draw. 
  • Avoid chemical peels, waxing, electrolysis, Laser treatments, dermal fillers, neuromodulators, or threading for 2 weeks prior to treatment. 
  • Avoid hair dye 48 hours if you are having hair restoration.
  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other ‘anti-aging’, ‘acne’ products 3 days prior to your treatment. 
  • If possible, arrive with a clean face or clean scalp for hair restoration.
  • A local, topical numbing agent will be applied prior to your treatment. 



Pre Treatment Care Instructions 

PRP Injections

PLEASE DO:  
  • Maintain a healthy diet and drink at least 64 ounces of water the day of your treatment.
  • If you are experiencing discomfort or pain Acetaminophen/Tylenol is recommended as needed. 
  • Use only use clean linens and towels during the healing process. 
  • During the healing phase, be sure to disinfect your cell phone or landline phone with alcohol wipes before use. Try to avoid your treated skin’s contact with the phone by choosing a hands-free option. 
  • You may return to your skin care products and makeup when your skin is not irritated, typically 4 -5 days after treatment. 
  • For hair restoration: do not wet or wash your hair for 6 hours. Do not use any hair products for 24 hours post.

PLEASE AVOID
  • Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation. 
  • Do not touch, rub, massage or manipulate the treated area for at least 24 hours post treatment. 
  • Please do not wash the treated area or take a shower for a minimum of 24 hours post treatment. Upon first wash: treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and clean towel to pat dry. No massaging or harsh scrubbing (i.e. clarisonic).  
  • Do not use any lotions, creams or makeup for 24-48 hours post procedure (unless otherwise approved by your provider).  
  • Avoid vigorous or strenuous activities, sun and heat exposure (hot tub or saunas) for 3 days post treatment.  
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, including tanning booths, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher for 24-48 hours post treatment. 

Post Treatment Care Instructions 

PRP Injections

  • Immediately post treatment, especially in combination with microneedling, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This typically diminishes within the same day or within 24 hours. 
  • It is normal to experience: bruising, redness, itching, soreness and swelling that may last from 3-10 days following your treatment. 
  • Light scabs may form in the treated area and remain for 24 to 48 hours. 
  • You will begin to see improvements in the overall texture and tone shortly after your treatment, but the overall effects take up to 3 months, for optimal improvement. New collagen formation takes 4-6 weeks to develop; please be patient!
  • It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments per year spaced 4-6 weeks apart for maximum benefit/results. 
  • If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to reach out to your provider or the clinic at any time via phone, text or video chat.  
  • A 2-week post treatment follow up via in-person or photo-virtual follow up is recommended. 

Contact the Office Immediately if any of the Following Signs of Infection Occur: 
  • Drainage – looks like pus from the treatment area. 
  • Increased warmth at or around the treated area. 
  • Fever of 101.5 or greater. 
  • Severe pain that is unresponsive to over-the-counter pain relievers.
